Poor Flash, Adobe to develop no more - One of the lasting effects of a Steve Jobs vendetta?

Poor Flash; no mobile.  I remember when I was younger and Flash would never work on my Mac.  No matter what you did, what you optimized, Flash would never work.  The whole internet was flash and I think that’s what forced Mac to move to the Intel chipset. (i could be wrong).

Fast forward to the iPhone.  Steve says no Flash, no matter what.  Cites many issues with it but I think it leads back to the days when Flash would not build properly for Mac.

Vendetta or not, Flash had it’s day, and now it’s time to move on.

Bringing it back for another look. The Arcade Fire Interactive Experience is amazing.

You may have seen it before, even so, type in your home address and let it roll.  Chris Milk has directed an amazing combination of art and tech working together almost seamlessly to create an entirely original experience.   We will see more of this type of thing in digital entertainment.

a few sparks on the Facebook timeline

I just added it to my profile, and I like it.  Aside from my indulgence, I have  a few thoughts that I’d like to share about Facebook Timeline.

Person as Brand

The evolution of Facebook in general has taken people along the road to becoming their own Brand and to exhibiting certain aspects of themselves that draw attention from others or interrupt the stays quo.  The new Facebook Timeline highlights your personal ‘Brand’ and allows you to show of the best, most attractive elements of your personal journey through life.  It also quickly paints an abstract picture of your personality, habits and so much more.

Adam Penenberg wrote a book called The Viral Loop that talks about our addiction to ‘the love hormone’, Oxytocin  Perpetual, Meaningful Validation is the key to Social Media Marketing.

Person as Data

Your Data is available by the terabytes.  Well, maybe not multiple terabytes, but there is lots of it, and it all surrounds your IP addresses, user names, pictures, videos, social media use and many other things we don’t know about yet.

Your data has been used by marketers for decades to create an abstract picture of your personality and habits with hopes of showing you an advertisement as you travel throughout your day.  Today is much different. Your Data is an addiction. Your Data is a fundamental aspect of business.  Your data is the product and there are thousands of customers globally.

Review your contributions.

Person in Reality

In reality, we are multidimensional.  Our thoughts, emotions, aspirations, ideas and activities can not be properly harmonized into an algorithm that computers will ever understand. But the person in reality may not be the measure by which we are valued and controlled.   Society and the functions therein may measure and predict (decide) who you are by your virtual persona; built with the help of your every day digital habits.

Seeing your life in a glance is astounding… for a minute
